HOW DO ADOPTIONS WORK?

Fill out an application linked under the "Our Cats" tab. Please be sure to complete your application in one sitting. Delaying completion may disrupt the submission. Check phone numbers, complete email addresses, and please be sure to answer anything in the 'required' fields. You WILL receive a confirmation email if your application was submitted successfully. Please check spam and move to your "inbox" to ensure future correspondence.

A vet reference regarding your current or previous animals is then conducted. From there, your application will be processed and you will be contacted via email by our rescue partner, Catering to Cats and Dogs. If you have been approved, your email will indicate the time and date of your adoption. Please pay the $165 recovery fee via PayPal for your kitty to confirm your adoption.

Adoption: You will be asked to bring a secure pet carrier. All cats are spayed/neutered, up to date on shots until the time of adoption, tested for feline leukemia, and microchipped. A rep from Catering to Cats and Dogs will be at your adoption to go over paperwork. We will promptly take a polaroid of you and your new furry family member for our memory books, then you're ready to go!

Please Note: Applying does not guarantee that the specific kitty you're interested in will still be available when your application is complete. Applications must be approved before a cat is put "on hold" for someone. We encourage pre-approval to make the process smoother if you're ready to adopt a new family member!

*The Mac Tabby staff do not field applications or make decisions regarding the process. Questions or concerns must be directed to Catering to Cats and Dogs by emailing cats@c2cnd.org.

WHEN WILL I HEAR SOMETHING?

Our rescue kindly asks for a 72 hour grace period. They are all hard-working volunteers and are processing applications in the order they are received, as quickly as possible. Mac Tabby is only one of the avenues they are receiving applications, so please be patient. However, in the event you would like to check on your application after the grace period, please contact them directly to inquire about your status by emailing cats@c2cnd.org for further assistance.

I AM NOT FROM THE AREA, CAN I STILL ADOPT?

Catering to Cats and Dogs adopts their animals to homes in the greater Charlotte region only.  We appreciate your dedication to giving a homeless kitty love and to add another to your family; however, if you live further outside the Charlotte region - please check out some of your local shelters and rescues that need you as well!

I AM APPROVED! WHAT DO I NEED TO BUY?

Your kitty is used to eating Purina Cat Chow Complete (in the blue bag) and Fresh Step (non-scented) Clumping Litter. You are welcome to change this at your home but we suggest starting out this way. Our rescue will give you great info on how to transition your new cat to different foods. Don't forget some scratching posts, catnip and toys!

OUR RESCUE PARTNER...

We have partnered with Catering to Cats and Dogs (C2CND) a 501c3 charitable non-profit. Twelve of their kitties reside at Mac Tabby at a time. Each time one is adopted, another comes in to take its place! Cats in their care can fluctuate from 70-80 kitties, but can rise to over 100 cats during kitten season! We do our part to help! C2CND is run entirely by volunteers who dedicate their time and energy saving, transporting and caring for animals in the Charlotte area. They are always looking for fosters! Contact them direct if you're able to help!
